SADTU extends its condolences to family, ANC, friends and colleagues of the late Minister Roy Padayachie

7 May 2012

The South African Democratic Teachers` Union would like to express its sincerest condolences to the family, ANC, friends and colleagues of the late Minister of Public Service and Administration Roy Padayachie.

Comrade Padayachie was a dedicated and hard working minister and ANC member who died while on duty in Ethiopia. He dedicated his life to fight for a liberated South Africa and the course of poor.

A trained chemist and microbiologist, Padayachie was a selfless community activist who abandoned his professional career to fight for liberation.

His death has come at a time when SADTU and other Public Service Unions were beginning to engage with him in wage negotiations. We were hoping he would, through his hard work and dedication, bring improvement in the public service sector.

We were also looking forward to seeing him introducing a single public service which aims to integrate procedures between the three spheres of government.

May his soul rest in peace!
