The South African Democratic Teachers' Union (SADTU) is having a Cultural Festival in the Eastern Cape on the 4th and 5th of October, 2018 under the theme, "Celebrating the Nelson Mandela Centenary through Cultural Diversity."
More than 1000 SADTU members from all nine provinces are attending the Festival. They will perform various activities that will include poetry, scathamiya, traditional music, gumboot dance, praise singing, modern dance, drama, story telling, gospel music and ballroom dance.
The Superintendent General for Education in the Eastern Cape, Themba Kojana and Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture MEC Bulelwa Tunyiswa are some of the dignitaries who will address the Festival.
The second day of the Festival (5 October) coincides with the World Teachers' Day and members will join millions of teachers worldwide in celebrating the day under the theme, "The right to education means the right to a qualified teacher."
