SADTU in KZN welcomes the decision of the Court to set aside the move towards preventing the provision of nutrition to deserving learners in the Province.
SADTU has always raised concerns about the new tendency of seeing and identifying the School Nutrition Program as a market to make profit than taking it for what it is. It cannot be correct that learners are not fed because there is a "war" between providers and the Department.
SADTU still maintains her position that SGBs must be responsible for the school nutrition programme with the Department putting funds to the school so that they see to it that learners get their food on daily basis.
SADTU also condemns all forms of corruption (perceived or real) in the nutrition program.
The Department must take responsibility to ensure they work around the clock to ensure that all learners are receiving food.
